Nurturing New Voices

LODWAR, KENYA - Participants from various parts of the vast Turkana County attending an intensive hands-on training on citizen journalism. The training in three two week sessions is designed to give a chance to alternative or other  voices focusing on accountability in the County's development issues.

It is conducted by ScienceAfrica in Collaboration with Kenya Media Programme. The participants say their aim is to focus on development issues that are relevant and important to Turkana people . The County suffered much neglect in the past. The Training will end up in the publishing on TURKANA MIRROR which will among other issues mostly report on various aspects of health, agriculture, environment, policy, accountability and transparency in the financial or budgetary allocation and use.

Turkana leads Counties in improving health and education

The 2 billion Kenya Shillings puts Turkana leading as funds disbursed by National government in purchase of ten (10) ambulances, one hundred and forty (140) ECD teachers, and sixty five (65) nursery schools to be established.
